Play Left 4 Dead No-Steam Online on the Garena Network!!!

It is recomended that you read ALL the tutorial carefully.

In order for the l4d non-steam client to function well, we will have to follow 5 steps, and respecting the ORDER of these steps will ensure that the game runs smoothly on XP SP2 o.s. I haven't tested it on Vista, but it should be ok. In the case of not respecting the order of the steps, you risk getting errors of the type "you need to start Steam", even if you have Steam running. In this case, delete everything you installed and begin from scratch.

1.The download of the game

The recommended client is Full Rip Skullptura. Unrar it, and make sure that you have at least 5 GB free space. Go to where you unpacked it, and there should be a executable file, called setup.bat. Double click, press any key and wait for the game to install.

2. Patch the game for non-steam multiplayer

- [L4D]_Update_1.0.1.5 run the installer and browse for the folder that contains the left4dead.exe

- L4D Standalone 1.23.1 run the installer and browse for the folder that contains the left4dead.exe. At the end you will choose the ingame nick and language.



3. How do I enable the console¿

Options->Keyboard/Mouse->Allow developer console, click on enable



4. How do I enable the captions¿

Captions are a very important part of the gameplay especially if you play with no sound as they warn you about what is happening in the game in terms of sounds. So, when the server plays the sound of the horde approaching, in the lower part of the screen the following phrase will appear:

so you will be warned long before the horde actually appears.

To enable captions, go to Options->Audio->Captions and select Full Captioning




5. How do I play l4d online¿

Login on Garena, click on the "Left 4 Dead" icon and enter one of the chat rooms. In the chat zone there are some buttons. Click on "Settings" button. At the "browse" section, go to the l4d executable, "left4dead.exe", Open then Ok. At the "Botstrap parameters" enter the following line:

After that, click Ok and "Start Game". Open up the console and write "map" (without the quotes) and tap the space bar. A dropdown menu will apear which contains a list of maps. Choose one and hit Enter or click Send

The server will run on the co-op mode. If you want to play versus or survival, you have to first write mp_gamemode versus or mp_gamemode survival, then choose the map. The resulting server is a listenserver, a server that depends on your actions. If you choose to leave the game, the server will be shut down and all clients will be kicked.

Connecting to a server can be made in 2 ways: either from the lobby, which involves selecting a game from the list of friends below in the main menu, or from the console (bring up the console and write connect ip, where ip is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - the ip can be given to you by one of your friends)



Observation - This game uses rev-emu (which is a Steam emulator that generates a fake Steam ID). That means initialization errors on launch for genuine Steam games (for users that have a valid Steam account with games bought through it). The solution for not getting this kind of error is to close Steam before launching Left 4 Dead Non-Steam. However, if you do launch Left 4 Dead Non-Steam with Steam on and get the initialization error upon attempting to launch a Steam game, just restart Steam.

P.S. - Am avut multe cazuri in care jucatori de pe Garena ma intrebau cum sa faca sa joace si ei l4d. Exista tutoriale si pe forumul Garena FPS dar sunt mai complicate si se incurcau in ele (da, au si ei newb-ii lor ) si stateam si le explicam cate jumatate de zi cum sa faca. M-am gandit sa traduc tutorialul asta ca sa fie mai usor pentru toata lumea. E simplu, la subiect si acopera nevoile de baza pentru a putea juca l4d pe reteaua Garena. Postez aici pentru ca e in limba engleza, iar daca imi va mai cere cineva sa ii explic, ii voi oferi frumos linkul catre acest topic. In felul asta, ma gandesc ca mai fac si putina reclama worldwide pentru csbestial
